Don’t Play Safe

A game suffers when you play safe.

Likewise work or a marriage, a friendship, or traveling.

Even life.

I’m not suggesting you deliberately look for danger. That’s stupid.

But “playing safe” and “looking for danger” aren’t opposites. Because the flip side to playing safe is about another kind of playing. It’s playing strong, playing well, playing hard. Playing the game like it’s supposed to be played and playing to win

You can go through life tentatively, fearful, and nervous about what might be around the next corner.

Don’t do that. Instead, grab life hard, grab it full, and grab it with intensity. And enjoy the game. Will you make mistakes? Of course you will. And those mistakes are in turn part of the not playing safe. Because by playing the game (or life, or work, or your marriage or anything else you do) those mistakes will become part of that tapestry and in turn part of the fun.

Enjoy that fun. Cherish the game.
